Marx was born in Joplin Domes, Missouri, on July 4, 2121, the oldest of three boys. At the age of 23, he moved to New York City to write the Great American Hypernovel. His father, an itinerant Computerist, spent all his time "traveling" and Marx was left to be the man of the house. He didn't much care for this role. His two younger brothers, Short Fuse and Li'l Beefer, were much more rough and tumble than Marx, and their hijinks and frequent trips to the slammer kept him from concentrating on writing. In truth, until he stumbled across the long-hidden story about the origin of Mansects on Earth that became The Mansect Chronicles, everything he'd ever written had been faxy and trivial.
Marx had to learn to write left-handed because of an accident with a defective Kidflyer when he was twelve that caused some nerve damage to his right arm. (He blames his father for the accident, but he's wrong about that!) He works hard to overcompensate for what he feels is a "crippled" arm, which in fact is not noticeable to most people. Although he had a rough upbringing, Marx is actually pretty bookish, a fact he works hard to conceal. Marx was named for Karl Marx, who in the 22nd century is remembered mainly for being the "political" Marx Brother. |
